When you come to the end of a perfect day

When you come to the end of a perfect day,
And you sit alone with your thoughts,
While the chimes ring out with a carol gay,
For the joy that day has brought,
Do you think what the end of a perfect day
Can mean to a tired heart,
When the sun goes down with a flaming ray,
And the dear hearts have to part?

Well, this is the end of a perfect day,
Near the end of a journey, too,
But it leaves a thought that is big and strong,
With a wish that is kind and true.

For mem'ry has painted this perfect day
With colors that never fade,
And we find at the end of a perfect day,
The soul of a friend we've made.

For mem'ry has painted this perfect day
With colors that never fade,
And we find at the end of a perfect day,
The soul of a friend we've made.

Blessings to all who have had perfect days.

Harvest and Leaf Fall

This is my favourite Season: the time of Harvest and Leaf Fall.
Autumn now sleeps on our bed at night and lingers with us over coffee until late morning, but in the afternoon, it is Summer who is out back, encouraging even the most reluctant of kiwi branches to send out more heart shaped leaves, more twining tendrils.
We may have Indian Summer, but the geese are not fooled for they have been practicing flight formations every night, getting ready for the Migration South. They know that Autumn will soon take over the days and not just the nights.

Blessings of Autumnal light and a Crescent Moon kissed by Venus to all.

Thank You! Bless You All!

Thank you ALL so much for your encouraging emails, and congratulations for my unexpected win yesterday in the photo competition at the Fall Fair!
The Praying Mantis saying YIPPEEE! is from the camera of the very talented Laura Blomgren.
My heart is truly grateful and I am so glad you took the time to send your good wishes on to me.
Blessings to you all!

WOOHOO! I WON AN OUTSTANDING AT THE FALL FAIR!

Today at the Fall Fair, I honestly couldn't believe my eyes, but when I came around the corner of the baffle and saw 'my' photo with this humungous OUTSTANDING rosette pinned to its corner, (with a Blue Ribbon 1st underneath it!) I just stood there like a dummy, mouth hanging open and thought it must be some mistake. Surely the one below mine was the winner?  All I could think of to say, was O MY and O MY GOODNESS! over and over like a mantra. I vaguely recall Mr Bear saying something like "well done sweetheart!", but it took a while to for it to sink in, as I was still pretty much in shock. A lady who was looking at it, turned to me and said, "Did you take that?" and when I nodded, the questions began, what kind of camera did you use?
(I pulled out of my pants pocket my trusty Canon Powershot A1300) and what kind of processing? (London Drugs). I think she was a little taken aback by how low tech I shoot, no big gunslinging piece of cameramongery for me.
So far, for the last three years that I have entered, I have placed in the top three of each section, though this year, the other two photos that I entered did not.:( These were Action: Fountain and Flowers
and People: Mr Bear Walking In the Winter Woods.
Golly gee whiz Batman, O alright then, I guess I will just have to live with the Outstanding Rosette and Blue Ribbon I got! <g>
Blessings to all photographers and photography lovers out there!

Happy First Friday! and....

It's BLESS YOUR SOCKS AND UNDIES DAY!
And I am Ready, yessiree. I am wearing a pair of delightfully warm, hand knitted socks (with confetti coloured heels and toes!) that I received as a gift from Ms P's friend Marianne She is one Knit Wizardess let me tell you!

So what kind of socks are you wearing today?
And did you bless them?
What? You didn't know?
I'm sure I told you last month, tsk tsk and you didn't write it down, did you?
So now that you know, as soon as you can, grab a pair of your favourite socks, put them on and when you walk around in them, say a little blessing for their comfort to you. You can also do the same to your ahems as well, while I'm thinking of it.
All together now: Bless My Socks and Undies!
Ok.
We are now done for the month.
See you on the First Friday in October.
Blessings of Socks and Undies wherever you might be wearing them.

A Waterfall of Quail!

In between rain showers, the 3 courts of Quail that we have enjoyed all summer long, descended our garden stairs like a veritable waterfal!. So many brown feathered bodies (I think there might have been at least 30) that the stairs were 'raining quail'. It was a joy to watch them hunt and peck and scratch for cracked corn under the bird feeder.
Along with them of course came the Interloper: the other Monarch of the Hill, Buck the Fruit Tree Eating deer! The other night we heard four shots fired from a hunting rifle; we had hopes but to no avail. It appears Buck leads a charmed life (so far).
Blessings of a waterfall of whatever delightful birds decide to gift you and may your garden be free of deer!

Blessings to those who can take the time to stand in the rain to catch a photo.
